Owls and Vowels

Wordy and cute, an addictive puzzle game.

We were approached by ElApps to develop their word game prototype into an App Store-ready game.

We combined our mobile development and e-learning expertise to create Owls and Vowels: an addictive word game where players are encouraged to expand their vocabulary by spelling new words.

To develop a fun, addictive, and educational game that makes an impact in the word game genre.

Fun Comes First

To compete with the leading games in the word genre we knew that we would need to prioritise engaging gameplay.

We focused on UX, animations, effects, and a well balanced difficulty curve to create a game on par with leading puzzle titles.

In-Game Dictionary

After interviewing players from our target audience we found a key feature missing from the majority of our competitors: and in-game dictionary.

We purchased the WordsAPI database to give the game offline access.

Organic Traction

We integrated Facebook and Twitter functionality to let players compete for high scores and share definitions with their friends.

This led to an increase in organic growth and greater long-term user retention.
